Chelsea were quite busy with transfer-related matters over the weekend.
The Blues agreed a £30m deal with Leicester City to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, according to The Athletic.
They also sold Omari Hutchinson to newly-promoted Ipswich Town after his successful loan spell there last season.
Chelsea are yet to sign a striker this summer.
However, they are reportedly interested in Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and recently discussed another name.
Chelsea considering signing Bayern Munich youngster
Barcelona’s Marc Guiu is one centre-forward who will be joining Chelsea this transfer window, though it is not quite clear yet whether he will be part of Enzo Maresca‘s first team.
As per BBC Sport, Chelsea have already agreed to activate his release clause.
He is not the only young striker the Blues could end up signing, though.
According to journalist Simon Phillips, they also discussed Mathys Tel’s name over the weekend.
Speaking about the Bayern Munich youngster on Substack, Phillips said: “Chelsea are once again considering making a move to sign the 19-year-old this window and have held internal discussions about signing him this weekend.”
Why Mathys Tel could be the ideal signing for Chelsea
At 19 years of age, Tel fits Chelsea’s transfer strategy, with the Blues having really focused on signing young players of late.
The Frenchman is a striker but has also played on the left wing quite often, so he would bring versatility to Stamford Bridge as well.
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry once said he does “extraordinary things” when discussing his compatriot.
Overall, Tel could be a very smart investment by Chelsea.
The France U21 international is unlikely to come in and fix everything at Chelsea. But 19 and already playing in Bayern’s first team, Tel looks capable of making an impact for Maresca’s side now and in the future.
You suspect, though, that Bayern will want to keep hold of such a talent, which could present a problem for Chelsea.
