Chelsea are backing one of their players to shine under Enzo Maresca next season.

Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea are confident that £32m player is going to do well under Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca replaced Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea manager last month and has a very talented squad to work with.

It is a talented squad that the Blues have already added to this summer after bringing in the likes of Tosin Adarabioyo and Omari Kellyman.

However, it is one player who was already at the club who Chelsea are putting a lot of trust in ahead of the new season.

He has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, but he looks likely to stay there.

Chelsea believe in signing from last summer transfer window

Chelsea’s previous summer transfer window was quite a busy one.

They brought in the likes of Moises Caicedo, Nicolas Jackson and Axel Disasi to name a few players.

Jackson has since been linked with a move to Newcastle United, but Fabrizio Romano claims that Chelsea still trust the 23-year-old and expect him to perform well under Maresca next season.

Discussing Jackson on Substack, Romano said: “What I’m hearing is that Jackson is considered a really important player for Chelsea. They trust him and believe he’s going to perform very well under Enzo Maresca next season, and that his value is going to go up.

“Chelsea absolutely trust Jackson and think he’s going to be a key player next season, and also on the player side, Jackson is very happy at Chelsea, so everything is quiet on this one.”

Should Chelsea have so much confidence in Nicolas Jackson?
Jackson did not have the perfect season in England following his £32m move from Villarreal.

He missed a lot of chances in the Premier League, finishing the 2023/24 campaign with an xG difference of -4.66, according to WhoScored.

However, the fact that his xG was 18.66 and he still managed to score 14 goals gives Chelsea reason to have confidence in Jackson.

The Senegal international, alone, is probably not going to fire the Blues back into the Champions League, but he can certainly make a big contribution to their season.
