Chelsea have several strikers on their shortlist.

Chelsea have discussed signing £30m striker, he wants to play in the Premier League

Right now, Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion and Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran are the two names that have been heavily linked.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are trying to reach an agreement with Omorodion.

Regarding Duran, Romano has claimed that Enzo Maresca has been asked if he wants the Villa star at Stamford Bridge.

However, they are not the only centre-forwards Chelsea have looked at.

Chelsea’s potential alternative to Samu Omorodion and Jhon Duran

Chelsea are yet to have any success with Omorodion or Duran as they look to bring in a new striker.

Eventually, the Blues will have to turn elsewhere if they make no progress in their bid to sign either of the two.

It could see Lille’s Jonathan David become an option, with HITC reporting that Chelsea have discussed signing the 24-year-old.

According to the outlet, David would love to play in the Premier League and could cost as little as £30m.

He scored 19 goals in 34 Ligue 1 appearances last season.

Why Jonathan David should be higher on Chelsea’s shortlist
David looks to be much lower on Chelsea’s shortlist than Omorodion and Duran.

All things considered, though, he should probably be higher than both.

At 24, David obviously has more experience than Omorodion and Duran, who are both still 20.

He has a better goal record, too, with Omorodion and Duran only managing to score eight and five times respectively in their divisions last season.

Also, while David could cost just £30m, Atletico are believed to be demanding £68m for their striker, who is still very much a novice in the game.

Ultimately, David could be a the ideal alternative to Nicolas Jackson in west London, but it looks like Chelsea are going to prioritise Omorodion and Duran before turning to the Canada international.

The Blues’ transfer strategy is to sign young players with a lot of potential and they clearly have no intention of diverting away from that, at least for the time being.
