Ryan Garcia and Teofimo Lopez mercilessly mock Eddie Hearn after he was crushed in Saudi Arabia

Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions demolished Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing in the 5vs5 battle of the boxing promoters

Ryan Garcia and Eddie Hearn

In a novel 5 vs 5 format, Queensberry Promotions, led by Frank Warren, faced off against Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The two British promoters selected five boxers each to determine which promotion boasts the best talent. The result was a crushing defeat for Matchroom, as they lost all their bouts, leading to a 10-0 sweep by Queensberry.

“Congrats Frank Warren. You gave us a spanking tonight! Incredible night, incredible concept and we look forward to running it back very soon!” Eddie Hearn posted on social media, acknowledging his defeat in the 5vs5 tournament.

The format was an idea conceived by Turki Alalshikh, president of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia.

After Zhilei Zhang’s knockout victory over Deontay Wilder in the final fight, Alalshikh presented the Chinese boxer with a $3 million check.

Eddie Hearn Faces Social Media Backlash
The disastrous outcome for Matchroom’s fighters triggered a flurry of reactions on social media, with many users seizing the opportunity to mock Eddie Hearn.

Among them was boxer Ryan Garcia, who has had an ongoing rivalry with Hearn since testing positive for Ostarine in a doping control following his fight against Devin Haney. Garcia couldn’t resist taking a jab at the British promoter.

“LOL Eddie Hearn another L (loss). All good, who you want next? ‘Boots’ I’m send him to the goons,” Ryan Garcia posted on his X account.

Teofimo Lopez Joins the Mockery

Ryan Garcia was not the only boxer to mock Matchroom’s defeat. Teofimo Lopez also had sarcastic and mocking words for Eddie Hearn.

“The tables turn, bridges burn, you live and you learn… Cheer up, mate [Eddie Hearn],” Teofimo Lopez posted on his X account, sending a cryptic message implying that the situation might change next time.

The innovative 5 vs 5 format provided an exciting spectacle, and despite Matchroom’s crushing defeat, both promotions hope to continue this new approach in future events.
