Cole Palmer has just tipped 'unlucky' Chelsea player to be brilliant next season

There’s no doubt that the 2023/24 season at Chelsea will be remembered for the stunning arrival of Cole Palmer from Manchester City.

The 22-year-old left-footed attacker now has one game remaining of a breathtaking debut year at Stamford Bridge.

He scored again on Wednesday night in Chelsea’s 2-1 away win at Brighton, which takes his personal tally up to 22 Premier League goals this campaign. Remarkably, he’s got 25 goals and 14 assists in 44 games across all competitions for the Blues.

But Palmer has now said that he fully expects one of his Chelsea teammates to be in the limelight next season because of how good he is.

Cole Palmer has very high hopes for Chelsea star next season
Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku has just been given a big vote of confidence from one of his peers.

Palmer claimed after the Blues victory against Brighton that Nkunku has been “unlucky” with injuries. He’s confident that the 26-year-old attacker is still a top player and will be integral next year.

When discussing Nkunku after Chelsea’s win over Brighton, Palmer said as quoted by the club website: “Everyone knows his quality, even from Leipzig, before he came here. He’s been unlucky with injuries but if he can get firing and get fit you saw what he can do out there last night.

“So I think next season everyone will see how good he actually is.”

Christopher Nkunku gives Blues fans a glimpse

Nkunku’s only made 13 appearances during this first season at Chelsea, including on Wednesday at Brighton, but he’s given everyone a glimpse of his quality during his limited time on the pitch.

The forward has three goals at a rate of 163 minutes per goal, which is quite impressive given the stop-start nature of his year.

He took his winning goal against Brighton like a natural finisher with a first-time finish in the box.

The Chelsea Chronicle certainly agrees with Palmer that there’s every chance Nkunku can be a big player at Stamford Bridge next season if he’s fit and available.
