Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Estevao Willian from Palmeiras.

According to BBC Sport, the Blues have agreed an initial £29m fee with the Brazilian club for the winger, who will move to Stamford Bridge after he turns 18.

Chelsea have really tapped into the Brazilian market since being taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

In the last summer transfer window, they signed both Deivid Washington and Angelo from Santos. Estevao recently discussed his future when asked about the Chelsea rumours.

Chelsea’s plans for Estevao Willian

Estevao will still be a teenager when he officially joins Chelsea.

Nevertheless, it looks like the Brazil youth international is going to be handed a role in the first team straight away.

Discussing Chelsea’s plans for Estevao once he joins the club on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “Chelsea’s plan is very clear, to bring in this player in 2025. But from what I’m hearing, he’s not going on loan to any club. He’s not going with the second team.

“No, Willian Estevao will be considered immediately for the first team. So Chelsea want to bring this guy immediately with the team to make an impact. They believe he’s super special.”

Chelsea see off Bayern Munich in race for Estevao Willian

One club who Chelsea seem to have beaten in the battle for Estevao are Bayern Munich.

The German giants were also reportedly interested in the Palmeiras star, but it looks like they have missed out to the team who beat them in the 2012 Champions League final.

Chelsea have not had the greatest season, with a fifth-place finish the best thing that they can hope for.

However, despite that and their recent struggles following their takeover, it is quite clear that Chelsea still have their pulling power. Winning the race for an in-demand talent like Estevao, which now looks like a formality, proves that.
